Humans Of HOKA || Luis Grijalva Is A Dreamer
HOKA
HOKA athlete, Luis Grijalva was born in Guatemala and his parents brought him to the United States when he was an infant. As a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) — an administrative relief program that protects eligible immigrants, who came to the U.S. when they were children, from deportation — Luis considers the U.S. the only home he’s ever known. And yet, as a Dreamer, he faces a number of restrictions that prevent him from leaving the country unless he’s granted special permission. When Luis qualified to represent Guatemala at the Tokyo Olympics, he was faced with an uphill battle that he ultimately won. Now, Luis is running to raise awareness and represent 600,000 fellow Dreamers under DACA.
